If you are noticing that either your chat bar within your toolbar is missing or that you do not have the ability to chat at all, this is indicative of one of the following things:
Note: If you are receiving Error Code: SXFP-CHYK upon attempting to pull up the Parental Controls setting in-game, that means that our Account Management tools were unable to verify your identity in order to grant you permissions to make changes on your account and Penguin. To resolve this error, you will need to manually verify your identity with our Support Team.
Club Penguin Legacy utilizes a state-of-the-art filter to prevent certain words/phrases from being sent. This is implemented as a safety measure to keep our players safe.
If you find that several or all of your messages are being filtered in-game, please contact Support so we can look into your filter for you. We have the ability to either unmute your Penguin account (in the case it is muted) or adjust your trust level so that your filter is less strict moving forward.
We ask that you please do not attempt to circumvent our filter as this is essentially just the same as saying the blocked word itself. If you are reported to be circumventing the filter to break our rules, your Penguin account may receive some form of punishment.
If you happen to see someone bypassing our filter to break the rules, please report them to us immediately using the in-game report function.
Two Step Login is an optional security feature that you can enable for your Penguin account. Although optional, we fully recommend all players enable Two Step Login for their Penguin account(s) as an added measure to keep your account secure.
Enabling this feature ensures that either the Penguin account owner or the parent/guardian of the account owner are able to access the account even in the case of a compromised password.
To enable Two Step Login, complete the following steps:
Once you successfully have Two Step Login setup, you will be prompted to enter your unique 6-digit verification code each time upon logging into Club Penguin Legacy. For this reason, do NOT delete your authenticator app while you have Two Step Login enabled as you will need access to it to be able to login to your Penguin account each time.
Note: If you no longer have access to the device in which you or your parent/guardian has enrolled Two Step Login, your Penguin account will be temporarily locked. To have your Penguin account unlocked, you will need to contact Support. Make sure to have your Support PIN available and be prepared to answer any relevant identification questions.
Your Penguin's name can be rejected for many reasons. It's hard to give a definitive answer as each case is different, however you can reference our Penguin Name guidelines by navigating to this link. Our Name Guidelines are frequently updated, so sometimes names that were once acceptable before are not acceptable today.
Note: If your Penguin Name is unapproved by our Trust & Safety team, you can always request a new Penguin Name that adheres to our Penguin Name Guidelines.
Please contact our Support Team and we will try our best to help you with restoring access.
Please note that you will need to verify that you are the original owner of this account. We will be in touch with the information we require from you.
You are not allowed to disclose or request any personal information on Club Penguin Legacy. Here is a simple list of things you are not allowed to share or request. Note: This is not a comprehensive list and may change at any time:
Note: Providing personal information is the same as asking for personal information.
Clothing consists of items in-game that one can equip to both their Penguin’s sprite and player card.
These clothing items include:
Head/face/neck/body/hand/feet items and colors can be seen worn by your Penguin as they waddle around the island in addition to displaying on your Penguin's player card. Backgrounds and pins are only displayed on your Penguin's player card.
Clothing items can be obtained from a variety of different sources across the island. The most notable source for clothing items comes from purchasing them from the Penguin Style catalog at the Gift Shop every month. Other notable sources for clothing are the Snow and Sports catalog at the Ice Rink/Stadium, the Costume Trunk at the Stage, the various Game Upgrades for minigames, the party catalogs for different parties on the island, and the Music Catalog at the Lighthouse. These are generally purchased using coins.
Periodically, clothing items are also released in the form of Unlock Items Online codes.
Igloos are otherwise known as a Penguin's home in-game. They are fully customizable from the type of Igloo itself, to the flooring, furniture, location, and music.
The two primary catalogs for your Igloo are the Better Igloos and Furniture catalogs. Both of these catalogs are accessible directly from the Edit menu of your own Penguin’s igloo. They follow a similar update schedule to that of the Penguin Style being updated on a monthly basis, generally.
The Better Igloos catalog is your primary source for obtaining igloos on the island. This catalog also offers flooring and locations.
The Furniture Catalog is your primary source for furniture items on the island. Featured in these catalogs include a wide variety of floor, room, and wall furniture items.
Club Penguin Legacy also features an Innovative Igloo Builder that allows for greater accessibility and your imagination as an igloo building enthusiast to run wild.
A fun little Easter Egg: If you type the keyword "BUILDER" inside the Igloo Builder interface, you'll be able to decorate your igloo without any boundaries!
Coins are Club Penguin Legacy’s main currency. They are used to purchase a variety of items around the island. Coins can be earned in a few different ways, which include the following:
Not a huge fan of grinding minigames for coins? Club Penguin Legacy offers you the ability to mine for coins at the Cave Mine.
All you need is to equip a hard hat or Miners Helmet, then start drilling around the central dirt area to start uncovering coins. Note: To perform the drilling animation, equip the Hard Hat/Miners Helmet (only the helmet without any other clothing items), then dance while that item is equipped.
Missing a Hard Hat or Miners Helmet? No problem. You can always obtain the Miners Helmet from directly inside the Cave Mine by waddling over to the two Miners Helmets and drill located next to the cave’s entrance.
Keep in mind that you have to move around constantly to keep earning coins. You are not able to continuously earn coins by staying stationary the entire time. You will want to move locations in the dirt area approximately every 15-20 seconds to optimize coin earnings.
Minigames include the several different games one can play around the island. Minigames are your primary source for obtaining coins in-game. You can also earn stamps while playing most of them.
Here is a list of all the currently available minigames one can play on the island (listed alphabetically):
Generally, the coin payout for each of the games is equivalent to 10% of your total score earned. For example, if you earn a score of 4000 while playing a game of Cart Surfer, the amount of coins you will earn from that score is 400 coins.
If you are able to obtain all the stamps for a particular minigame (assuming the minigame offers stamps), then your coin payout will be doubled.
On occasion, there may be Double Coin Weekends where coin payouts will double for all minigames. Note: This would stack on top of the double coins you earn from the aforementioned stamp bonus. So, essentially you will have earned 4x the coin payout in this scenario.
To qualify for placement on a Game Leaderboard, you will need to play a minimum of 10 games. Once you play the minimum number of games, you will start seeing your rank on the Leaderboard.
Your leaderboard placement is determined by the amount of wins you accumulate from the games you play. In the event of a tie, the Penguin with the higher win percentage will be placed higher on the leaderboard.
The main leaderboard will reset every Monday at 12 a.m. Penguin Standard Time*. There is also an "All Time" Leaderboard that does not reset, and displays the Penguins who rank the highest all-time respectively in each leaderboard.
If you are able to reach the top 10 on any Game Leaderboard, you will receive the Leaderboard Star stamp. If you are able to finish at the top of any leaderboard come reset time, you will receive the extreme Top of the Charts stamp.
In addition to the Leaderboard stamps, the player who finishes ranked first in any game will receive a shiny golden pin with the game that they have ranked first in as well as a trophy hand item. This player will also receive a reward bonus for every minigame during the following week.
Notes: It may take some time to receive your rewards for Leaderboard placement as they are not distributed automatically. Instead, these rewards are distributed manually by the Club Penguin Legacy Team.
*Penguin Standard Time does not abide by daylight savings, and remains at UTC -8 all year.
Pins exist in the form of an icon that appears on the top-left corner of player cards.
Pins are obtainable in a few different ways, which include the following:
Stamps are equivalent to in-game achievements awarded to players for completing a specific task or challenge in-game. Earnable stamps can be viewed from a player's Stamp Book, which will include a description of each individual stamp by hovering over them. The description will provide simple details of what is required of you to achieve the stamp.
Stamps are categorized as either Events, Activities, or Games stamps. Events Stamps include the stamps one can earn from participating in parties/events and meeting mascots in-game. Activities stamps include the stamps one can earn from completing general tasks around the island, several of which require the participation of multiple penguins working collectively as a group. For example, the Floor Filler stamp requires you to "dance in the Night Club with 25 penguins." Then finally, you have your Games stamps, which include stamps one can earn from playing the different minigames.
Stamps have varying levels of difficulty that are considered either easy (green), medium (yellow), hard (blue), or extreme (red) stamps.
If you are able to achieve all stamps for a particular minigame, you will receive a double coin bonus as reward while playing that minigame going forward.
Mascots are famous characters of Club Penguin Legacy who visit the island occasionally, especially during parties/events. They are made more identifiable than other Penguins with their name being in white text opposed to the usual black text color.
If you are able to meet a mascot in-game, you can obtain an exclusive background and a stamp for being in the same room as that mascot.
Note: If a mascot appears on the island as an NPC (Non-Player Character), stamps will not be awarded for being in the same room as them. Stamps are only awarded for being in the same room as the mascots you can interact with. The mascots you can interact with consist of mascots who travel to the different rooms on the island and communicate with the community as they are controlled by the Club Penguin Legacy Team.
To obtain the background from a mascot during a meetup, you will need to collect it from their player card. There will be a box icon in place of where you would normally add a Penguin (the far-left button on their player card) that you can click to collect the background.
Interested in becoming a tour guide on the island? Being a tour guide requires a deep understanding of the island's landscape to be able to give informative and enlightening tours to newcomers. It is going to require some experience on the island to reach such a state, which is why your Penguin account must be at least 30 days old before you are even eligible to become a tour guide.
If you believe you are ready, head over to the tour booth at the Ski Village to start your journey. This will prompt a 10 question quiz that will put your ultimate knowledge of the island to the test. If you can answer at least 8 out of the 10 questions correctly, you are now ready to start showing newcomers around our snowy island.
Equip that Tour Guide Hat you’ve now earned and start your journey as an official Club Penguin Legacy tour guide!
The island is always looking for new agents who are passionate about keeping the island safe, but first you must prove yourself a worthy addition
Once your Penguin account is at least 60 days old, you’ll want to head over to the Sports Shop where you’ll find a couple change rooms (very typical of an apparel shop). Although, what lies behind the curtain of the change room to the far-right isn’t your typical change room.
Upon attempting to enter the change room, you’ll be met with a screen that requires a 4 digit code. What exactly is that 4 digit code? Well, you will have to use your secret agent skills to unlock that. You will want to look for a couple of notes around the island containing a coded message. Once you obtain those, head back to the secret curtain at the Sports Shop and translate the message to uncover your 4 digit code.
Good luck future agents!
The abundance of game updates can make it easy to lose track of all the new things happening around the island. This is where the Event Board comes in. If you make your way to the Lakeside, which you can access directly from your map or by taking the downward path at the Plaza, you will be met with a large bulletin board. This is the Event Board.
This Event Board houses information for upcoming events that are happening around the island. Generally, the Event Board is updated every Monday.
The events are categorized as either game updates or community-held events. The game updates consist of anything from catalog releases to upcoming parties. Community-held events are events created and hosted by community members.
One of the neat and unique features about the Event Board is that you can create your very own event to host for the rest of the community to attend. It’s very easy to do too. Just click the “Create Event” button on the “Community Events” section of the Event Board. Doing so will bring you to a form. From there, click the “Create New Event” option and fill out the required fields. This should only take a few minutes in total to complete.
Also, just because you submit an event does not guarantee it will be posted on the Event Board. So, don’t feel discouraged if you don’t see your event published. There’s always the following week where you have the opportunity to submit your event again.
Each month 10 penguins are selected to have their artwork featured on the Penguin Art Wall, located directly above the Coffee Shop in the Book Room. You can submit your artwork to the Club Penguin Legacy Team for a chance to have your piece featured.
Penguins who have their artwork featured here will be awarded the Penguin Art Wall Contributor Pin and 2,500 coins.
Unlock Items Online is a feature that allows you to earn items/coins by entering a code. When codes are made available, they will be publicly posted on our official media account(s). Generally, you can expect for these codes to only be redeemable for a limited timeframe.
To redeem these codes complete the following steps:
Periodically, Igloo Contests are held on the island. Players are required to build an Igloo that fits the theme and requirements set forth by the Club Penguin Legacy Team.
All qualifying participants will receive a stamp for their participation as long as they adhere to the contest requirements. Those who place top 3 will receive an animated pin that they can display on their player card as well as a banner for their Igloo.
Winners are decided on by the Club Penguin Legacy Team and an expert panel of judges, collectively.
Penguin of the Week is a distinction given to one Penguin each week who has exemplified the characteristics including (but not limited to) being kind, helpful, and active on the Club Penguin Legacy island.
Upon being recognized as a Penguin of the Week, you will receive the Green Viking Helmet, Penguin of the Week Background, and 5,000 coins as reward. Your Penguin will also be featured in a blog post on our Community Blog.
Penguin of the Week winners are decided on by the Club Penguin Legacy Team collectively based on nominations that are submitted to us from the community. Nominations provided by the community are reviewed closer to the start of the new week. If you have someone in mind who you believe exemplifies what it means to be a Penguin of the Week, you can nominate them.
Note: To be considered for Penguin of the Week, one must at the minimum have clean account history with no recent outstanding infractions within the last 60 days.
Normally, Error Code: SXFP-CHYK means that our Account Management tools were unable to verify your identity in order to grant you permissions to make changes on your account and Penguin. In this case, you will need to manually verify your identity with our Support Team.
Currently, since the Parental Controls setting has not been made available to anyone yet, Error Code: SXFP-CHYK is displayed for everyone by default. The Club Penguin Legacy Team plans on rolling out Parental Controls some time in the near future.
In the meantime, if you are seeking to make changes to your Penguin account’s Parental Controls (e.g. to adjust your Safe Chat level), you can do so by creating a Support request. To carry out such a request, the only information we would require of you is your new desired Safe Chat level (Standard, Ultimate, or Complete Safe Chat) as well as verification from a parent or guardian since this is a Parental Controls setting.
If you are unable to remember your Penguin account’s password, you can recover it by clicking the “Forgot your password?” option located on the login page (https://play.cplegacy.com) where you go to enter your login credentials or by navigating directly to this link: https://cplegacy.com/password-reset. You will need access to the email address associated with the Penguin account to carry this out since an email will be sent to process this change.
Unfortunately, if you are unable to remember your Penguin account’s name or email address, we are unable to assist you in recovering that information. In the case that you are unable to remember your Penguin Name, but do know the email address associated with it, we recommend that you check for any emails from Club Penguin Legacy that may reference your Penguin Name. In this case, you can also use the aforementioned "Forgot your password?" option on the login page to have Club Penguin Legacy send you an email with your Penguin Name addressed inside the email.
Does your Penguin Name currently show as "P" followed by a series of numbers? For example, P123456. If so, this indicates that your username has not been approved yet.
Penguin Name verification is done manually by the Club Penguin Legacy Team. Therefore, it could potentially take up to approximately 3 days for it to be approved.
If your Penguin Name gets rejected by our Trust & Safety team, you will automatically receive a pop-up in-game upon your next login. This pop-up will allow you to submit a new Penguin Name that adheres to the Penguin Name Guidelines. It is important to note that your newly desired name will only be approved if it adheres to the Penguin Name Guidelines.
Once you have submitted your new Penguin Name request, you will need to re-login with that newly desired Penguin Name to be able to access your Penguin account moving forward.
This prompt to change your unapproved Penguin Name can always be accessed via the Settings menu in-game by clicking the “?” button located at the far-right of the Toolbar. Therefore, do not worry if you accidentally close out of the automatic prompt that you receive upon your initial login or if you happen to change your mind regarding the name you submitted.
Please be aware that Penguin Name changes for unapproved usernames are not carried out via Support request. This is something that one will have to request via their in-game Settings. Of course, if you ever have any general questions regarding the process, you may always contact Support for assistance.
Currently, Penguin Name changes are only carried out for those who have had their Penguin Name rejected/unapproved by our Trust & Safety team.
If you would like to change your Penguin Name that has already been approved, you may inquire about this by contacting us via Support. Penguin Name change requests for usernames that have already been approved are only done under extreme circumstances. We will let you know if your name change request qualifies as one of those circumstances upon reaching out to us.
If you would like to change the email address associated with your penguin account for some reason, please reach out to us.
To carry out such a request, you will need to have access to the current e-mail address associated with your Penguin account you are looking to change.
To inquire about deleting your Penguin account, please contact our Support Team for further assistance.
Clearing your cache is something that you will find to be extremely helpful in both preventing and resolving performance issues that you may run into while playing the game. Being that Club Penguin Legacy is a browser-based game, clearing your cache from time-to-time will ensure that it is working correctly. This is also relevant when updates arrive to the island as you will need to clear your cache to connect to the updated version of the game.
How exactly do you clear your cache? Well, that will depend on which web browser you are using. The following will detail how to clear your cache on the different web browsers you may use while playing.
Google Chrome:
Google Chrome iOS:
Mozilla Firefox:
Safari macOS:
Microsoft Edge:
Safari iOS:
Note: A quick shortcut for those who are using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, or Microsoft Edge. While in your browser press the Ctrl + Shift + Delete keys simultaneously to open the appropriate window to clear your cache from.
If you are experiencing performance issues while playing Club Penguin Legacy, we recommend that you try the following methods in an attempt to improve your situation:
One of the benefits of Club Penguin Legacy being HTML5 is the ability to play the game on mobile devices. All you need to do is access the game on any mobile web browser like you would on a desktop by visiting https://play.cplegacy.com to play.
However, it is important to note that Club Penguin Legacy is still not optimized for mobile play yet. Therefore, expect to run into issues while playing, especially if you are using iOS devices. The game can only handle as much as your mobile browsers allow it to since there is a set memory limit on mobile browsers that will cause the game to crash once reached. iOS browsers have quite a low memory limit, which will cause your device to crash often while attempting to play.
You can either report a player directly in-game or by creating a request with Support.
To report a player in-game, open their player card, which you can do by clicking their Penguin. Then, click the far-right moderator badge button and select a reason for reporting. Once submitted, Trust & Safety will review your report and take appropriate action.
To ignore a Penguin all you need to do is open their player card, which you can do by clicking their Penguin. Then, from there click the skull button.
This will completely remove that Penguin from your screen so you no longer have to see or interact with them again.
If you wish to stop ignoring a Penguin, you can do so by opening your Ignore List by clicking the skull button from the Friends List menu. Then, click the Penguin you wish to stop ignoring, which will bring up their player card. From there, click the skull button with the red X over it.
Rest easy and play on with confidence, knowing that our vigilant Trust and Safety team is on the case! With lightning-fast review times and a real-time report tracker, our team swiftly identifies any misbehaving Penguins and ensures they're dealt with accordingly.
And while we can't disclose any specific actions taken, rest assured that any infractions issued are strictly between us and the Penguin in question. So let us handle the dirty work and enjoy a worry-free gaming experience!
Mutes are placed on Penguin accounts for violating our rules. While muted, you will be unable to communicate with other Penguins.
Mutes are always permanent in duration. Therefore, if you would like to appeal a mute on your Penguin account and have it lifted, you will need to contact us via Support.
Bans are given in cases where a Penguin account is found to be breaking our rules. A ban can vary in terms of duration due to a number of different factors, whether it be a temporary or permanent ban.
If you have been banned for any reason, please review our rules completely to ensure you are understanding of them all. If you would like to inquire about your ban at all, please reach out to us via Support so we can assist you further.
Please be aware that we do not reverse bans that are temporary. Only ban appeals that are of permanent length will be considered for reversal.
Infractions may result in having your Penguin account banned for a varying length of time or having your chat restricted. In the case of being banned, you will be unable to login to that Penguin account for the duration of the ban. In the case of having your chat restricted, you will lose your ability to freely communicate with others in-game.
Either punishment is given as a result of the player violating our Community Guidelines & Rules.
If you would like to appeal or simply inquire about an infraction, please contact us via Support so we can assist you further. When contacting Support for such inquiries, make sure you are choosing your issue to be "Appeal an Infraction".
Please be aware that we do not reverse punishments that are temporary (i.e. temporary bans). Only appeals that are permanent will be considered for reversal.
No, you are responsible for your own Penguin account. It is also against our Gameplay Rules to share an account with others. If your friend or family member was caught breaking the rules, we are unable to reverse the infraction that has been placed on your account.
We encourage everyone to create separate accounts for your friends and family members.
The consequences of an infraction can vary based on multiple factors. The severity of the action in question and the number of prior infractions on any of your accounts are key factors that will determine the infraction you receive.
It is important to remember that our team takes every infraction seriously and enforces our policies fairly and consistently. So, we encourage all of our players to play by the rules and make sure that their in-game behavior is respectful and appropriate at all times.
No, you are not allowed to play on another account if you have been banned or muted. Our automatic systems will be able to detect that you are a previous account and may enforce action. Remember that this is an instance of "Ban Evasion" and is against our Terms of Service and our Gameplay Rules.
To appeal permanent infractions, you must contact Support. For temporary infractions, you will need to wait for them to expire as our Trust and Safety team will not reverse them.
