Hi Penguins,

It’s been an interesting week here on our snowy island. In fact, it’s been so interesting it’s not even a snowy island anymore… it’s a rainy island! The Great Storm has reached its peak and with it has come the long-awaited return of Captain Waitaha. Even though the island may be facing hazardous conditions, we thought it would be fitting to celebrate their arrival with a pirate themed party! Below is a guide of everything you’ll need to know to make the most of this special event.

Stamps

First off, there will be no Island Quests with this event. However, we’ll be needing some brave penguins for a quest like none other later during the party. There still are two stamps to collect, these being the Explorer and Happy Room stamps!

Waitaha

After all these years, Waitaha is back! They are appearing for the first time since the Island Adventure Party in August 2022! They will even have a brand new giveaway! They will be making both scheduled and unscheduled visits throughout the party. Here are the current scheduled visits we have planned:

It’s important to remember that Daylight Saving Time recently occurred, so if you’re having trouble converting times, head on over to the Clock Tower at the Snow Forts!

Waitaha's Task List

In their letter that washed up on the Beach a few days ago, Waitaha told us that an "ancient wicked being" had been unleashed due to dark magic used during the Medieval Party. In addition to this, it also caused The Great Storm itself! They've created a task list to help us return the island back to normal!

Journal Page Hunt

First, it seems that they accidentally lost pages from their journal due to a wind gust while docking at the Beach! These pages catalog some of their most pivotal moments as a captain of the seven seas around the island. For those of you who are unfamiliar with them, this will be the perfect way for you to get to know them. They may even give you a prize for finding all the pages and returning them!

Forging a Weapon

Once you complete the Journal Page Hunt, you can make your way down to the Boiler Room your next task: forging a weapon! Once you receive instructions from Waitaha there, head over to the Cave Mine to begin mining for materials for your weapon. Using any hard hat, you'll need to dig for the following supplies: 20 gold nuggets, 10 silver nuggets and 5 ruby gems.

Once you gather everything, head back to the Boiler Room and forge your weapon! To do this, use your Blacksmith Apron (pssst... if you don't have one they're hidden in the Penguin Style on a page for hard working penguins) and hammer the weapon for one minute. Then, mold it using The Smithy and it will finally be complete. You'll now be ready for the upcoming battle!

The Battle

With your Ruby Cutlass in hand, board The Wayfarer to begin your voyage to the battle. Once there, you'll be greeted by the weather-changing sea serpent. It has two attacks: lightning and splash. Thankfully, Waitaha is here to guide us through the battle.

When the sea serpent is about to attack with lightning, you'll see a target show up on the ship. Step in the center of the target to reflect the attack back with your Ruby Cutlass. If you step on the outer part of the target, you'll be stunned for a bit, which will allow the serpent to regain strength or make you vulnerable for its splash attack.

Speaking of its splash attack, when the sea serpent is preparing to do so, take cover underneath one of the two staircases on the ship. This will allow you to dodge it and keep your vision clear!

Once you complete the battle, you'll be greeted with a cutscene. In order to avoid spoilers, we will not go into detail about it here. From there, Waitaha will take you back to the island and reward you handsomely. We will also not spoil the contents of their rewards. Now, we must simply wait for the storm to wear off.
