The Card-Jitsu Celebration Is Here!

Hi penguins,

For some time now, many of you have been asking for improvements to Card-Jitsu and we’re happy to announce that they’re finally in-game! We’re here to help you with a list of every change we made. We also have a guide on our little Card-Jitsu Celebration! Let’s get started!

List of Changes

Below is a list of every single change we made to the game:

Matchmaking:

  • The threshold to face a repeating opponent has decreased to 1 to improve matchmaking wait times. Prior to this change, you would have to play against 3 different opponents before playing against the same opponent again.
  • Players can now match with opponents that are two belts above or two belts below their current belt.
  • The number of completed training matches required to start earning belts has been reduced from 15 to 3.
  • NEW! The number of players looking for matches is now displayed while searching.

The Draft:

  • NEW! You can now save a deck of cards to use for multiple matches, rather than selecting the same cards manually for each individual match.

Utilities:

  • NEW! You can now view utility tooltips when hovering your cursor over them during a match.

Progression:

  • NEW! Ninjas can now continue to purchase new Power Card spins every 10 wins. Prior to this change, ninjas were unable to purchase new Power Cards.
  • The cost of Power Cards has been reduced to 5,000 coins for the first spin and 1,000 coins for a respin. Prior to this change, Power Cards cost 15,000 coins for the first spin and 3,000 coins for a respin.
  • NEW! Players are now rewarded with coins after completing matches. You will receive 200 coins for a victory and 100 coins for a loss.
  • The scale of Ninja Rank has been changed. It is now +3 for a win and -1 for a loss. Prior to this change, it was +3 for a win and -2 for a loss.

General:

  • All mention of League and its competitive aspects, such as the Leaderboard, have been removed. The entire game is now just called Card-Jitsu. However, this does not imply that we reverted the game back to its original state. There are still many features from the League era, they are now just simplified.
  • The tutorials and Sensei dialogue have been overhauled to improve and simplify the learning process.
  • The Ninja Elite stamp has been removed, while the Zen Owner stamp will now be unlocked automatically once you adopt a Zen Puffle.
  • NEW! There is now a Training Interface featuring brand new items for you to collect as you progress through your Ninja journey. All you have to do is complete matches to progress through the interface, no victories are required. This interface is a permanent addition to the game, not just for the Card-Jitsu Celebration. It is the scroll icon located in the Dojo.
  • The asset sizes of the game have been reduced, allowing a much more smooth performance during matches.
  • General bug fixes and performance improvements.

Reminder of Previous Changes:

Here is a reminder of some other changes we made to the game back in May:

  • You do not lose Belt Points for losing a match. The scale is +1 for winning a match and 0 for losing a match.
  • You are not penalized for leaving a match due to game issues.

Card-Jitsu Celebration

In order to put as much focus on Card-Jitsu improvements as possible, there will not be a full scale party for the month of November. However, for an occasion as important as Card-Jitsu, we wanted to have a small celebration.

The Forest, Mine Shack, Dojo Courtyard, and Dojo have all been decorated with their designs from the Card-Jitsu Party back in August 2023. There will be no Island Quests or event stamps to collect during this event.

However, we do have a special guest arriving for this party. Sensei will be making appearances throughout this event to celebrate this revamp with you. It will be his first time visiting the island since September 2023! He will have a brand new custom giveaway to collect, so keep an eye out! He will be making random visits, along with a couple of scheduled appearances, the latter of which can be found right below:

Wrapping Up

That just about covers everything! If you experience any bugs while playing, please don't hesitate to report them to us!

The Card-Jitsu Celebration will be here from today until Sunday, December 1, but the changes made to the game are permanent! We hope everybody has an improved experience mastering the ancient art of Card-Jitsu! Up next is none other than… the Holiday Party! Stay tuned!

Until next time… waddle on!
